Hi Pat,
I can think of two excercises from the book 57 SF activities for facilitators and consultants One is the Resource Telephone and the other is Love Letters. I experienced the first in a workshop with Frank Thomas about the Leader and Solution Practices and found it excellent. I don't know if you could find it elsewhere on the net. I hope it helps.

Hello Everyone, I wonder if anyone can me give any ideas for ending a teambuilding workshop. I will be facilitating 8 Matrons to identify their roles and responsibilities within an NHS Trust. My intention is to use a SF approach during the workshop. My client has particuarly requested that I end the day on a 30-40 minutes energiser that leaves them motivated and upbeat to take forward any actions that are agreed. (I have already used the Sparkling Moments exercise with this particular group). I look forward to learning from your experience and wisdom. Best wishes Pat

Excellent -thanks to both Stanus and Hans-Peter, I have now downloaded the pdf and will give the technique a run out.
I anticipate I will need to keep this client firmly on the peaks & out of talking about the troughs!

Hi Phil,
Look at the Curvilinear Time Line at SF Activities if you have not done so already.

Not sure when this is Pat but would be happy to discuss some ideas when we meet in December - visoning is something we do a lot of at Summerhouses and we find big visual maps of the different perspectives useful. Let me know if you need suggestions sooner and we could have a phone call

Hello everyone. I am new to this group and pleased to be a part of it. Like Phil I am also doing the SF professional course with Mark and Jenny Clarke.
I'm planning a workshop with a director of nursing and 7 senior nurse managers at an NHS hospital. The director has shared with me what she sees as poor performance of her senior nurse managers and it seems they're working 'harder' rather than 'smarter'. Apparently the morale is low and they're not very motivated.

My brief is to facilitate a workshop to agree team values and vision. My plan is to identify 'what's already working' SF exercise and give affirmations at the start of the workshop to raise energy levels. I'm then thinking about putting people into pairs to look at their service from different perspectives (patient, professional, manager etc) where everyone has opportunity to contribute to every perspective.

What I'm struggling with is how best to bring it altogether so we end up with a common shared vision that they can sign up to and use as their foundation for future work together. I'd be really grateful for your ideas/suggestions and whether or not you think I'm on the right track.
Best wihses, Pat

Dear all
Hello - delighted to have found this group. Have used SF for some time now and I am doing the SF professional course with Mark McKergow at the moment.
As an interesting discussion piece - we have usually been clear to clients that they should not view the scale as a timeline - we are working with a client at the moment who would like to do just that. They want to build up a timeline of what they have done and achieved. i am suggesting we use that as the scale and affirm all the good stuff - anybody got any experience of this and know of any potential pitfalls?

Hello all,
This seems like a very productive group.
I've been using improv games to help teach "yes, and" as an in-the-moment solutions focused approach. It's been much fun and helps people feel the power of SF.

Hi Carole

Yes pipe cleaners are a safe and easily mobile option. I have a collection of small childrens toys I have accumulated over the years, but watch out for squeezy things as adults squeeze much harder than children and we had some surprises!! Small spinning tops, stress balls in shapes and colour, twisty things, i buy locally in toy or arty crafty shops rather than web.

I usually place them in groups on table between people so they can all reach some if they want to, rather than have to. I don't structure use but would love to hear from others that do. Often there is an enquiry re the relevance and I get a chance to talk about learning, creativity or retention or whatever is appropriate to the group. (They also remember me I am told years later!!! for my toys!!)

Enjoy and keep us up to date on anything special
Loraine
