Sharing and building Solution Focused practice in organisations

In the past two months we prepared our stratey and budgets for 2009. Since we are listed on the AEX, the Amsterdam Stock Exchange we have to work with a stringent format and a lot of rules apply! Making strategic choices in this roller coster economy was easier then you think. Do not attempt to "predict" the market, work with you strenghts and align your organization for stormy weather. Take a firm grip on the stearing wheel!
This year I decided to make a solution focused businessplan. It had to work both ways: the preparation proces had to be solution focused, but also the strategy had to be based on the underlying ideas of SF management. In brief we took the following steps:
1. brief introduction to the 7 managers of the MT by myself. Everyone had to read Louis Cauffman's book Solution Focused management and coaching.
2. During a three day MT meeting we mixed a SF in house training by Louis Cauffman with the strategic discussions in the preparation of the 2009 businessplan.
3. At the end of the meeting every manager had a complete strategic plan identifying what to do more and how, activities and productlines that will be discontinued and all the succesful services that we are going to expend and learn to coworkers.
4. The plan was further detailed within every busines unit and consolidated to a businessplan in a later phase.

We are very excited, never before were our plans so clear, simpel and result oriented.
In my next blog I will elaborate on the introduction to all 140 emlpoyees and the implementation hurdles in our IT company.

Thanks Mark, Another interesting facet of the SF implementation is the "greedy" learning atmosphere that the SF buzz creates in my organization. Managers and team leaders cannot wait to start.

Goodmorning Bart,
Thank you for your enthousiastic support. In the past months several people invited me to publish our "story". Apart from the book "Effects of solution-focused training on leadership behaviour and productivity" from Hoffmann and Luisser there is hardly anything available on the SF impact on profit.
I am tempted to publish the succes of SF management in a business environment, suggestions are always welcome.

Hi Martin,
great that you keep us updated!
it sounds like a simple process: what to do more (expand) , what to stop (discontinue) and what to teach (spread knowledge and skill)...
I'm just curious.... it seems that you're taking this up so seriously and firmly, that I have no doubt you will get results and you are already getting them; have you thought about culminating your current and future experiences into a publication of some sort?

You prefer a "step by step" introduction instead to start with reading some
