I am the Talent Manager for Premier Foods in JHB, SA. I have just passed my 3rd yr MBA through Henley Management College in the UK. I am now doing my proposal for my dessertation and passionately desire to do this on SF. I am still trying to get my head around the hypothesis, any help would be great.

Hi Varecia

I am the same Jenny! I realise I probably should have posted my comments on your discussion page, but never mind. I have written to you directly with a table about the differences between traditional performance appraisal and SF performance appraisal. This may help you come up with a hypothesis!

Yiu have 3 months - don't panic!

Hi Jenny,

Is that the same Jenny that has been a God send from SF Work regarding my books and DVD?

Well I am at proposal stage and trying to get my head around how and why. I trained through Results Coaching Systems in 2007 as a Life Coach and then last year went on to train as an Executive Coach. This started a tremendous passion within me for coaching and the profound impact that it has on the facilitation of positive change in individuals. Having done this while doing my MBA I made a decision two yrs ago that I was going to write my dissertation on "Coaching for Performance". I was so excited. I did all my coach training and got more and more passionate about the subject.

My plan was to coach 3 of my own consultants (recruitment consultants) and compare their results to those of my consultants who had not been coached. At the same time I wanted to coach 3 Sales reps from Vodacom and compare their results to the results of other sales reps in their team. That was going to be my dissertation.

I forgot about the dissertation (because I thought I had it under control) and focused on my course material and wrote finals in March. I received my rude awakening to the world of a dissertation in May when I met with my Dean to discuss my plans. You can well imagine his reaction to my naive approach. I quote: "FAR TOO BROAD", FAR TO CLOSE" etc etc.

So I left, had 2 bottles of wine and hid away for month feeling sorry for myself.

When I resurfaced I started digging into the Theory of Coaching and in doing that stumbled upon SF and realised that this is the very core of why coaching works. I did further research on SF and came across both SFWork.com and SOLWorld.

That was a long story but thats where I am at.

I unfortunately only get a supervisor once my Proposal is approved.

I know I can pay for someone to write my dissertation but I am South African so can't afford it :).

I am passionate about SF because I don't see the value of drowning in the drama of past failure because the past can't be changed it only makes you stronger. In SA when someone is not performing they are counseled (law) on the "problem" and given an ultimatum, improve or go through disciplinary and finally get dismissed. I believe that if SF was introduced into the performance process in the workplace in SA the staff turnover would decrease and performance would improve. I don’t have the exact figures but around about 95% of individuals who are performance managed in this country are dismissed or resign.
I don’t have too much time to do my research like you get with the PHD. Essentially, I am supposed to submit by end October.

Hi Varecia and welcome to SOLWorld

Can you make your questions more specific? That would help us to help you. At the moment it sounds as if you want someone to write the dissertation for you (not an unusual desire!).

However, as a start you might think about what makes you so passionate about SF. What differences have you seen that makes it more attractive to you than other approaches to human discourse? Which arenas/fields do you think would benefit from SF? Could your own recruitment business benefit from SF? How? Then - perhaps - you might design a study about SF use for recruitment. You could have a control group (usual questions) and a study group (SF questions). Of course a study would take some time - to do the field work and analysis you refer to in your letter to the Solutions-List. How long have you got and what exactly are the requirements? Have you asked your supervisor for advice?

Best wishes,

Jenny

I suggest to use also this way

About your question it's quite general but I'm sure you can find someone who just did it

You prefer a "step by step" introduction instead to start with reading some
