Setting the scene

The organisational world provides a fertile context for the successful application of SF ideas. SF practice has its roots in the therapeutic approach devised by Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer at BFTC Milwaukee. The approach values simplicity in philosophy and language and aims to discover "what works" in a given situation. The focus on solutions (not problems), the future (not the past) and on what's going well (rather than what's gone wrong) leads to a positive and pragmatic way to work with people and organisations.

Individuals have been discovering for themselves how to apply Solutions Focused thinking in the workplace. This conference brings them together for the first time to meet likeminded people, to exchange and develop SF ideas in management and organisational settings.

Who should attend?

Anyone who wants to use Solutions Focus at work: managers, consultants, coaches, HR professionals, strategists, change agents...

What will happen?

  • Plenary and discussion sessions
  • Presented workshops
  • Emergent processes
  • Lots of opportunity to meet people informally

Places are limited to ensure ease of access to presenters and to keep things informal as we build a new community of solutions-focused practitioners in organisations.

Mark McKergow & Paul Z Jackson's book "The Solutions Focus" (published by Nicholas Brealey) will be launched at the Conference.

Participants will receive a complimentary copy of The Solutions Focus by Paul Z Jackson and Mark McKergow at the Nicholas Brealey Publications book launch party.
