Living and working in Africa I'm deeply influenced by the philosophy and practices of ubuntu - "I am because we are". This way of being in the world was both deeply troubling andreassuring while I…Continue

Hi Everyone, are we still open to connecting in this space, seems more friendly than facebook!
Hi Audrey - thanks for posting and very good to hear from you. I'd love to hear more about how you organise yourselves and what topics you share experiences around. I remember when the SolutionSurfers training was about to happen and hoped it might lead to something significant and community building - and it has! Which is to your and everyone else credit. I remember you too from SOLWorld. I hope to continue the conversations in Stockholm later this year. Best wishes to you all.
Greetings from Uganda, Kampala! A coaching Community was formed in Uganda (CCU) after being introduced to Solution Focused coaching by Peter Szabo. We share our experiences and insights every first wednesday of the month except in December for obvious reasons. We have been represented in three SOLWORLD conferences and will be there in September 2014. This connection is very powerful and cannot be traded for anything. More sharing in Sweden.
Welcome to Brian Keith Jenkins who is located in Ghana. Thanks for joining the SOLWorld Africa group. This group has been pretty quiet for a while - however, the next 6 months I'll be contacting members again actively inviting you to post some progress stories and success stories about your Solution-focused Brief Thinking and Practice as it is showing in Africa.
Good news - South Africa's connections with Solution-focused Brief Thinking & Practice is visible in the recently published celebration of Steve and Insoo's lives and work. At the moment the book is available in only German. Title: Begegnungen mit Steve de Shazer und Insoo Kim Berg. Editors: Manfred Vogt, Ferdinand Wolf, Peter Sundman, Heinrich N. Dreesen. 2012: SolArgent Media. ISBN 978-3-8080-0686-3. Order via www.verlag-modernes-lernen.de

"Tragedy Excavating to Compost-making: a Journey that Grew from Reading Minimal Elegance by Steve de Shazer"
followed by a poem "A pantoum of appreciation"

EBTA conference is about to take place in Poland. And there is talk of creating some kind of body at which national associations are represented. Are there any African nations with national bodies for SF or SFB? If yes, please post where and who to contact.
I'd like to imagine that our voices and contributions will be welcomed at EBTA if it emerges in a re-structured form and / or in any new international organisation formed via national associations.
Is it time to develop a South African national association for SF(B)?
Please post your thoughts. Tx svea
Well, it has been some time since I posted but, better sometime than never! At the recent SOL conference in Oxford I was privileged to talk with 2 women from Uganda who stood out for their incisive questions and comments about the intircacies of the langauge that is core to SF. We discovered we'd all participated in the SolutionSurfers Brief Coaching programme - and we were hearing it in each others language!
Anyone else got a story about making connections via hearing a familiar way of speaking?

You want to learn more about "Solution Focus"?
You prefer a "step by step" introduction instead to start with reading some voluminous books?
You would appreciate to have a complete "helicopter view" on SF after the first step…
