Sharing and building Solution Focused practice in organisations

Where do you find SF already working in Asia? How did you manage to get it to work?

I am aware there has been many SF training sessions conducted by various people. It would be interesting to know how the learning have been implemented in organizations. What are the challenges you face? What did you do to get SF to work?

Care to share your experience?

Hi Simon, thank you for starting this! It's a bit old, but I did a presentation at SOL2007 in Bruge with 2 managers from Canon Fine-Tech Inc. You can take a look at slides in English here; http://www.solutionfocus.jp/management.html
Thanks Aoki, this is very enlightening. What a great start!

I have just had Dr Ron Warner from CCPC (Canadian Council of Professional Certification) completed his first assessment of internal coaches at RHB Bank and Petronas, KL. This is the first small signs that SF is taking roots in Malaysia. This was accomplished after having Dr Peter Szabo, Paul Jackson and Janine Waldman delivered their training in Malaysia last year. Some of the participants have also attended workshops by Dr Ben Furman in Singapore. We now have a good foundation and platform to take SF forward....slowly, but surely.

I have also initiated a partnership with Solution Surfers to offer Brief Coaching programs in Singapore and Malaysia. I hope to share more in the days ahead.... although it would be nice to have the testimonies coming from the clients.
When I use SF approach in a training/facilitation session it allows groups to discuss in a save environment. Although the past problems might exist, what happens is as they discover possibilities and solutions, healing takes place. I find that in a problem solving mode the tendency to blame and to find faults is greater. Sometimes I advice my clients not to use the word 'post mortem' for reviewing or for the evaluation phase after projects.
I also find that 'problem solving' mode drains our energy.
In SF approach you can actually feel the group's positive energy emerging. It is also so true during a coaching session, you can feel the energy of the coachee driving the coachee and they feel refreshed.

The most common challege for me is the group slipping back into 'problem solving' mode, realising it quickly and to shift their thoughts and enerygy back to SF mode takes practice
I started using SF for my own life, my dreams and what more I can do to contribute to myself, my family, my friends and everyone that I interact with... It's amazing when I started to visualize the good things in life. It helps me in managing my issues better and gives me hope.

I believe that everyone of us wants to live a good life and I know that we can make things happen when we choose to act on it..

Start now, my friends and "dance with life"...
