Sharing and building Solution Focused practice in organisations

I attach below 2 adaptations of micro tools that I used recently when running training for staff who have to run Public consultation exercises. They had a brief instruction from me during the training session to consider a meeting they had coming soon, and thenthey had 5 minutes to answer the questions for themselves before discussing with a partner. They loved it, found very useful and had some interesting insights.

We then used their findings as a platform for further discussion.

Later in the session when looking at endings I introduced micro evaluation tool, see below, and they did a similar activity reflecting on a meeting past.

I used language to fit the client group and introduced as a self assessment tool rather than for coaching.

These tools were voted one of the memorable really useful things to take away from the training and use immediately. (3 different training groups all found it useful.) So thank you Michael.




Micro planning for a meeting using PLUS


Panic sets in, you realize that you are faced with a meeting with little time to prepare!!!.

Try using this micro-planning tool developed in conjunction with M. Hjerth


P Platform:

What is the reason and what is the purpose for the meeting?

Micro-evaluation a 3 minute wonder: USE


And after the meeting?

Usually we de brief the content and talk about some individual's views, behaviour, or how we will carry the outcomes forward.

Try using this micro-evaluation tool immediately with whomever you can gather round. It need only take 3 minutes and yields ‘on the spot’ valuable insights useful for next time!

I suggested if they used numerical score for evaluation then they could compare results over time and discover what was working
