Sharing and building Solution Focused practice in organisations

Hi all,

just want to get some quick responses. i realized in the world of SF, we seldom use the word "competency" of the practitioner because we don't view the SF practitioner as the expert. so what would be the word to replace "competency" then to bring across the message of the need for training, knowledge etc of the practitioner.

What's your take?

Thanks!
Joe

Hi Joe,

I do think we can talk about 'competency' in SF practitioners.  We are not experts about our clients lives and wishes - but we ARE experts in conversation, in process, in affirming, in clarifying, in questioning and so on.  You might like to look at the SFCT Clues (http://www.asfct.org/clues.php) for some of the compentencies of a good SF practitioner.

Cheers, Mark
